Ingredients

  • 1 cup filtered water
  • 2 black tea bags
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 green cardamom pods lightly crushed
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 6 oz cold whole milk
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 cup ice cubes

Equipment

  • Electric Kettle
  • Saucepan
  • Measuring cups
  • Fine Strainer

Method

  1. Bring 1 cup filtered water to a gentle boil in a saucepan.
  2. Add cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, and cloves. Simmer for 2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Turn off the heat and add black tea bags. Steep for 3 minutes until the liquid turns deep amber.
  4. Remove tea bags and strain out the spices.
  5. Stir honey into the hot chai until fully dissolved.
  6. Let the chai cool to room temperature.
  7. Fill a tall glass with ice cubes.
  8. Pour the cooled chai over the ice.
  9. Add cold whole milk and stir gently to combine.

Notes

Brew the chai slightly stronger than usual so the ice does not dilute the flavor.
