Ingredients

For the Shrimp:
  • 1 lb large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
For the Garlic Butter Sauce:
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped (optional, for garnish)

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Tongs or spatula
  • Measuring spoons

Method

  1. Pat the shrimp dry with a paper towel. Season with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the shrimp and cook for 1-2 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove shrimp from the pan and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook, stirring frequently, until fragrant and golden, about 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add the shrimp back to the skillet, tossing them in the garlic butter sauce. Stir in lemon juice and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for an additional minute, making sure the shrimp are coated evenly.
  5. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped parsley if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
  • Reheating: Reheat on low heat in a skillet to avoid overcooking the shrimp.
  • Variation: For a creamy sauce, add a splash of heavy cream along with the butter.
  • Safety Tips: Avoid overcooking the shrimp. They cook quickly and become tough if left too long.
