Prepare the Meatloaf
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, onion, garlic, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, oregano, and thyme. Use your hands to mix everything together until just combined-don’t overmix!
- Transfer the meat mixture into a 9x5 loaf pan, pressing it down gently to form an even loaf shape.
Make the Glaze
- In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard to make the glaze.
- Spread the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf, using a spoon or basting brush.
Bake the Meatloaf
- Place the loaf pan on a baking sheet to catch any drips, then bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
- After 1 hour, check the meatloaf. If you like a crispy top, broil for an additional 2-3 minutes until the glaze is bubbling and caramelized.
Rest and Serve
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. This will help the juices redistribute and keep the meatloaf moist.
- Slice the meatloaf and serve with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes or a simple salad.
Notes
- Storage: Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
- Reheating: Reheat slices in the microwave or in a 350°F oven for 10-15 minutes.
- Safety: Make sure the meatloaf reaches an internal temperature of 160°F to ensure it’s fully cooked. Always handle raw meat with care to avoid contamination.
