Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb fresh green beans trimmed
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp lemon zest optional

Method
 

  1. Snap stem ends off green beans using hands. Rinse cold water, pat dry paper towels.
  2. Heat large skillet over medium-high. Add butter using measuring spoons till foaming melted.
  3. Add minced garlic to butter. Stir tongs 30 seconds fragrant golden.
  4. Add green beans to skillet with tongs. Sprinkle salt, pepper from measuring spoons. Sauté 7 minutes tossing often till bright green tender-crisp spots.
  5. Remove heat. Stir lemon zest if using. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Fresh thin beans cook even; thick blanch 2 minutes first. High heat keeps crisp.
  • Butter foams signal ready; watch no burn garlic.
