Ingredients

  • 2 cups uncooked Long-Grain Basmati Rice
  • 4 cups Hot Water
  • 8 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Fresh Parsley

Equipment

  • Heavy-Bottomed Pot with a Tight-Fitting Lid
  • Fine-Mesh Sieve
  • Wooden spoon

Method

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a heavy-bottomed pot, melt the full stick of butter over medium heat until it starts to foam.
  3. Add the rinsed rice and sauté for 2-3 minutes, stirring gently, until the rice is lightly coated and aromatic.
  4. Pour in the hot water, add salt and black pepper, and stir once. Bring to a gentle boil over medium-high heat.
  5. Reduce the heat to low, cover tightly, and simmer for 15 minutes until the water is absorbed. Do not lift the lid.
  6. Remove from heat and let the rice rest, covered, for 5 minutes.
  7. Fluff the rice gently with a wooden spoon and garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

Letting the rice rest off heat allows the butter to distribute evenly, ensuring each grain is glossy and flavorful.
